Firefox 2.0 scores big on the Internets
Mozilla's Firefox 2.0 browser was quite a popular download within the first 24 hours of its public availability. The new browser, which was introduced early last week, achieved 2 million downloads during its first day. Mozilla provided the following figures for its browser releases:
- Firefox 1.0: 1 million downloads in the first 24 hours.
- Firefox 1.5: 1.5 million downloads in the first 24 hours
- Firefox 2: 2 million (actually slightly more) people using Firefox 2 in the first 24 hours.
There is definitely growing support for the browser and many have been anxious to see how Mozilla's latest and greatest stacks up to Microsoft's recently released Internet Explorer 7.0 web browser. Now if only the extension/add-on community would kick it into high gear and get all extensions up to 2.x compatibility.
